Leaking Ceremony is a participatory installation created through a durational score-based private performance. Drawing from my experience of living with endometriosis, a chronic reproductive illness, the work seeks to question the use and documentation of my body through periods of pain and its resulting embodied trauma. As an artist who typically works in performance, I was driven to seek alternative modes of displaying physical vulnerability that privileged a sense of care and intimacy. The work comes alive through the participation of the viewer, who is invited to engage their body with the performance score as a guide to enter the sacred space of the installation.
